Former Tennessee baseball star Christian Moore is headed to The Show. The Los Angeles Angels called up the former Tennessee star to its MLB team on Thursday night less than a year after Moore’s college career in the orange and white ended.

The Angels selected Moore with the eighth pick in the 2025 MLB Draft after a historic final season in Knoxville. Los Angeles promoted Moore from High-A to AA after just two games last season and Moore spent the rest of his inaugural professional season in AA Rocket City.

That’s where Moore started this season before the Angels promoted him to AAA Salt Lake last month. In 20 games at AAA, Moore hit .350 with four home runs and 18 RBIs. The middle infielder posted a very impressive .999 OPS during his short stint in AAA.

In 79 career minor league games, Moore is hitting .302 with 11 home runs, 28 extra-base hits and 52 RBI. Moore joins an Angels team that is currently 33-34 and just four games back in the AL West. The Brooklyn native looks to give Los Angeles a spark as they make a playoff push.

Moore is the fourth player to make it to the big leagues from the 2024 draft class, joining Dallas Baptist’s Ryan Johnson, Florida State’s Cam Smith, Wake Forest’s Nick Krutz and Florida’s Jac Caglianone.

Moore is one of the most accomplished players in Tennessee baseball history. The second baseman holds the Vols’ career home run record with 61 long balls. As a junior, he smashed the program single-season home run record with 34 blasts. Moore hit .375 with the 34 home runs, 19 doubles and 74 RBIs in the leadoff spot helping lead Tennessee to its first national championship in program history.

The Vols’ home run king is the ninth player from the Tony Vitello era to make it to The Show joining Garret Crochet, Andre Lipcius, Ben Joyce, Trey Lipscomb, Jordan Beck, Blade Tidwell, Seth Halvorsen and Chase Dollander. Ironically, three of those players made their debuts with the Colorado Rockies and Moore will be the second to make his debut with the Los Angeles Angels.
