As of Wednesday afternoon, we now have information on the time windows for all eight of Tennessee’s SEC games coming up this fall. One of those games, Tennessee’s SEC opener at home against Georgia, had previously been declared for the 3:30 p.m. slot in the third week of the season.

Wednesday’s news revealed that five of Tennessee’s SEC games will be in a “flex” window (3:30-4:30 p.m. ET or 6-8 p.m. ET), while the Vols’ road contest against Kentucky is in the “night” window and the home-finale against Vanderbilt is in the “afternoon” window.

But what may have been lost in the shuffle for some busy fans on Wednesday was that two of Tennessee’s non-conference games have officially been locked down with a time and television network.

Tennessee will host UAB in Week 4 on Sept. 20, with that game taking place at 12:45 p.m. ET on the SEC Network. Additionally, Tennessee’s Homecoming contest against New Mexico State has been locked in for 4:15 p.m. ET on the SEC Network on Nov. 15, the third-to-last game of the season.

The Volunteers have played UAB on five occasions, with each taking place in Knoxville. Tennessee is 5-0 in those matchups but had a close call in 2010, defeating the Blazers by a score of 32-29 in a double-overtime September matchup. The most recent game between the two programs came in 2019, with Tennessee winning by a score of 30-7 on Homecoming. Former Vol Bryce Thompson had three interceptions in that game.

  • 11/2/2019 – Tennessee 30, UAB 7
  • 9/25/2010 – Tennessee 32, UAB 29 (2OT)
  • 9/13/2008 – Tennessee 35, UAB 3
  • 9/3/2005 – Tennessee 17, UAB 10
  • 11/7/1998 – Tennessee 37, UAB 13

Tennessee has never played New Mexico State, making the matchup in 2025 the first meeting between the two programs. The mid-November game will serve as Tennessee’s Homecoming and Salute to Service contest this year.
