We’ll have to wait a little longer for the reveal of where blue-chip prospect Joel Wyatt will be committing to.
On June 23, On3 Sports reported that Wyatt was down to two schools, Tennessee and Vanderbilt, and would be announcing his decision on July 6. Those plans have changed, though.
In a statement posted to X on Monday afternoon, Wyatt revealed that he would be delaying his commitment that was originally set for this Sunday, and that a new date is currently being figured out.
“Regarding my original plan to announce my commitment on July 6th, I’ve made the difficult decision to postpone the announcement,” Wyatt posted to X. “Plans are underway to set a new date soon.”

More From RTI: Pair Of Four-Star Tennessee Football Targets Announcing College Commitments Tuesday
The 6-foot-4 athlete from The Webb School in Bell Buckle, TN, is a highly-touted, versatile prospect in the class. 247Sports’ Composite Rankings have Wyatt as a four-star prospect, the No. 43 player in the country, the No. 4 athlete in the 2026 class, and the No. 2 player from the state of Tennessee. He’s a gifted multi-position athlete with the ability to play on both sides of the ball – something that appears to have a big impact on where he decides to take his talents next year.
“Although he’s still developing as a pass catcher, the Top247 standout’s length, leaping ability and open field elusiveness make him one of the more dynamic prospects in his position group,” 247 National Recruiting Analyst Cooper Petagna wrote of Wyatt in May. “On defense, the Tennessee native will situationally reside as an overhang safety, covering ground quickly while flashing natural instincts in run support but is primarily used as a 3-4 standup edge where his speed and athleticism are virtually impossible to defend for opposing offensive linemen.”
On3 Sports’ report on June 23 stated that Wyatt was down to two schools, Tennessee and Vanderbilt, which are also the places that have hosted him on official visits on the recruiting trail. Wyatt has nearly 30 total scholarship offers, including picking up offers from Oklahoma and Louisville since the report came out last week.
Wyatt was recently one of the top standout performers in Rivals’ Five-Star camp this past week in Indianapolis. Rivals’ Adam Gorney gave the “Mr. Everything” award to Wyatt after he impressed at multiple positions during the camp.
