With under 24 hours until Tennessee football meets Arkansas on the gridiron, the Vols have released their list of team captains for the game in Knoxville. UT does captains on a game-by-game basis, but often a lot of the picks repeat throughout the season.
This time, it’s three repeat captains and one first-time on the season. Defensive tackle Jaxson Moi is in his first time of the season, while DeSean Bishop, Andre Turrentine and Bennett Brady have all previously served as a captain.
Moi started the season as a starter at defensive tackle, but suffered an injury early against Syracuse. Against Mississippi State, Moi was able to return for the first time since the injury in the season opener.
Bishop previously was a captain in Tennessee’s blowout win over ETSU. He has been the starter at running back in every game so far. He’s totalled 335 yards and four touchdowns on 49 carries through five games.
Turrentine was previously a captain in the season opener against Syracuse. He’s started every game at safety and been a stable piece of the secondary. He has produced 26 tackles and an interception.
Brady is now a captain for the fourth time this season as a special teams representative. He has spent his entire career at Tennessee and is in his first season as the starting long snapper.
