UCLA football dropped its fourth straight game on Saturday night as Washington came into the Rose Bowl and dominated the Bruins 48-14. The Huskies scored the game’s first 34 points before cruising in the second half to the victory.
It was a rough night for former Tennessee quarterback Nico Iamaleava. Iamaleava completed 16-of-26 passes for just 69 yards. UCLA averaged just 2.7 yards per Iamaleava pass attempts while the dual threat quarterback totaled 16 rushing yards on five carries.
Things went from bad to worse for Iamaleava in the second half as the sophomore quarterback suffered an injury in the third quarter. Washington sacked Iamaleava in the third quarter and the quarterback’s head hit the ground hard.
UCLA did not state what the injury was but given Iamaleava missed last week’s game against Ohio State with a concussion it could have been another head injury. Luke Duncan replaced Iamaleava after the injury and completed five-of-11 pass attempts for 81 yards and one touchdown.

With one game remaining in the regular season, Iamaleava has completed 181-of-285 passes for 1,728 yards, 12 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Iamaleava has been most effective using his legs this season, rushing for 490 yards and four touchdowns on 101 carries.
Compare that to Tennessee quarterback Joey Aguilar who has completed 229-of-342 yards for 3,145 yards, 23 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Aguilar has been less dynamic on the ground but has still added 119 yards and three touchdowns.
UCLA is now 3-8 (3-5 Big 10) this season. The Bruins lost their first four games of the season before catching fire with a three-game winning streak to start October. But UCLA has since come back to earth, losing four straight games by a combined 129 points. UCLA concludes its 2025 season with a rivalry matchup at USC next week.
Tennessee improved to 8-3 (4-3 SEC) on the season with its 31-11 win over Florida on Saturday night at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. The Vols now conclude their regular season with a rivalry matchup against Vanderbilt next Saturday afternoon at Neyland Stadium.
