Tennessee Football Opens as Betting Favorites vs. Vanderbilt in Neyland Stadium

This Saturday is being billed as the biggest game in Vanderbilt football history. The Commodores head to Knoxville with a potential spot in the College Football Playoffs on the line, with Tennessee looking to play spoiler. On Sunday, FanDuel released the opening betting odds and spread for the game.

The Vols open the week as 3.5-point favorites in the matchup. This makes Tennessee -156 on the moneyline and Vanderbilt +130.

So far, the public likes the Commodores to cover. 59% of the money and 68% of the bets placed have been on Vanderbilt covering. This season, UT is 5-6 against the spread. VU is 9-2.

The point total over/under is placed at 64.5 points. Tennessee and Vanderbilt have both had seven of 11 games go over this season.

ESPN is broadcasting Tennessee football’s regular-season finale against Vanderbilt, the SEC announced on Saturday night. The SEC had already announced that the matchup would kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET, but flexed the broadcast rights.

The broadcasting crew is not yet set for the matchup. It will be Tennessee’s first game on ESPN all season.

It’s Tennessee’s sixth afternoon game this season, along with its matchups against ETSU, Georgia, Mississippi State, Arkansas and New Mexico State. The Vols play their fourth night game of the season this week at Florida, along with matchups against Oklahoma, Kentucky and Alabama. Tennessee played just two games in the noon time slot during the regular season.

Tennessee is 8-3 (4-3 SEC) after dominating Florida 31-11 on Saturday night in Gainesville. The Vols are all but eliminated from the College Football Playoffs, but are looking to close the regular season strong with a second straight rivalry win.
