One of the most accomplished wide receivers in Tennessee football history, Jalin Hyatt’s, brother is now in the transfer portal. Devin Hyatt, after spending three seasons with Arizona, announced the decision to depart from the program on his X account on Wednesday afternoon.
“I’m grateful to the University of Arizona, my coaches, teammates, support staff, and everyone who has been part of my journey,” Devin Hyatt wrote. “I’ve grown both on and off the field, and I’ll always appreciate the relationships and lessons from my time here. After careful consideration, I’ve decided to enter the NCAA transfer portal. I will be entering with three years of eligibility remaining.”
Devin Hyatt played in just two games this past season with the Wildcats. He caught one pass for 10 yards on the year. In 2024, he played in 12 games, posting seven receptions for 109 yards. He did not play as a freshman in 2023. He was a three-star recruit out of high school, coming from IMG Academy.

Devin Hyatt’s older brother, Jalin Hyatt, played three seasons at Tennessee. As a junior in 2022, he put together one of the greatest single seasons in program history. While winning the Biletnikoff Award, handed to the best pass catcher in the country, he recorded 1,267 yards and 15 touchdowns on 67 receptions.
Jalin Hyatt is most remembered for his jaw-dropping performance against Alabama in the 52-49 win during that 2022 season. He caught six passes for 207 yards and five touchdowns in the game.
Now, Jalin Hyatt is a member of the New York Giants. He has struggled to find consistent time on the field early in his career, though.
Josh Heupel’s current Tennessee roster isn’t in much need of wide receivers. The Vols are projected to return standout receivers Braylon Staley and Mike Matthews next season. The open spot on the outside, left by Chris Brazzell’s departure, could be manned by second-year players Radarious Jackson or Travis Smith Jr., or incoming five-star freshman Tristen Keys.
If the Vols did want to add Devin Hyatt, it’d almost certainly be in a reserve role, making the potential addition unlikely at this point.
