The 2025 college football season has come to a close with Indiana beating Miami in the national title game. Now, all eyes turn to 2026. As we officially hit the offseason, FanDuel has released betting odds to win the national title.

On Tuesday morning, you can get Tennessee football at +6000. This means betting $10 on the Vols would net you $600 if UT claimed its first title since 1998 next year.

This mark is the ninth-highest mark in the SEC. Tennessee clocks in behind Texas (+750), Georgia (+1100), LSU (+1400), Texas A&M (+1500), Alabama (+2200), Oklahoma (+2700), Auburn (+4500) and Ole Miss (+4500). This means Alex Golesh, Josh Heupel’s former Vols offensive coordinator, has better odds to win the title in his first year with Auburn.

The biggest holdup with projecting Tennessee to be a national title contender at the moment is the quarterback position. It’s seemingly unlikely that Joey Aguilar will earn an additional year of eligibility, meaning the Vols will be forced into another quarterback battle this offseason.

This time, it’ll be between redshirt-freshman George MacIntyre, true freshman Faizon Brandon and incoming Colorado transfer and redshirt-junior Ryan Staub. However, none hold much, if any, in-game experience.

Defensively, Tennessee moved on from defensive coordinator Tim Banks after the regular season. Replacing him is Jim Knowles, who was in his first year at Penn State after winning a national title at Ohio State in 2024. He has brought in a haul of transfers, including four Nittany Lions, Amare Campbell, Chaz Coleman, Xavier Gilliam and Dejuan Lane.

The 2026 season will be the first nine-game SEC slate for the conference, as well. Tennessee will host Texas, Auburn, Alabama, Kentucky and LSU, and travel to Arkansas, South Carolina, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt. Out-of-conference games are scheduled against Furman and Kennesaw State at home, with a trip to Georgia Tech.
