The SEC is moving back Tennessee basketball’s matchup against Georgia 24 hours due to inclement weather, they announced Sunday morning. Originally slate for a Tuesday night tip-off, the Vols and Bulldogs will tip off at 7 p.m. ET on Wednesday night in Athens.
Ice and snow is affecting much of the southeast this weekend and into early next week. That led to the SEC pushing the game back a day to make it easier and safer for Tennessee to travel to Athens. The inclement weather altered Tennessee’s travel plans out of Tuscaloosa. Tennessee was originally scheduled to leave Saturday night after its game at Alabama, but poor weather in Knoxville delayed the Vols’ trip back to Sunday.
The SEC’s midweek games are always on either Tuesday or Wednesday, so moving the Tennessee-Georgia game to Wednesday does not alter the broadcast or some other logistics.
