Tennessee football’s staff, like all programs across the country, has hit the road to check in on priority 2027 targets. In the case of offensive line coach Glen Elarbee, he stopped by to see one of the top offensive tackles in the country a few days ago.
Elarbee saw four-star tackle Leyton Von Brandt in his home in Middletown, Delaware. Von Brandt is the No. 38 recruit in the country, via 247 Composite. This places him as the No. 5 offensive tackle in the class and the top player from the state. He plays for Appoquinimink High School.
At 6-foot-6, 270 pounds, the frame and skillset have already drawn plenty of attention from coaches around the country. Other schools to check in on Von Brandt this month include Auburn, Florida, Notre Dame, Virginia Tech, Penn State and Rutgers.
It was great having @Gelarbee @Vol_Football out to my house this morning to sit & talk ball & meet my family. I can’t wait to be in Knoxville this spring & see everyone @coachjoshheupel #GBO🍊 pic.twitter.com/drh6Roxqe0

The Vols were the 14th FBS program to enter the mix for Von Brandt. UT extended its offer in Feburary of 2025.
In December, he released his list of final schools, which included UT alongside Florida, Virginia Tech, Penn State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, LSU and Auburn.
Tennessee already holds four commitments in the 2027 class. This includes four-star tackle Princeton Uwaifo, four-star defensive lineman Kadin Fife, three-star linebacker JP Peace and three-star cornerback Kamauri Whitfield. The class is still young, though, and plenty more commitments are expected to trickle in over the next year.
Tennessee is coming off an extremely strong 2026 class, as well. The Vols landed 29 commitments in the class, with 27 signed in the early signing period and two local prospects committing last week. This was headlined by a trio of five-star prospects, quarterback Faizon Brandon, wide receiver TK Keys and offensive tackle Gabriel Osenda. The group ranks fifth in the country on 247.
