As Tennessee prepares for an SEC home matchup against Auburn on Saturday night in Knoxville, head coach Rick Barnes and starting point guard Ja’Kobi Gillespie met with the media on Friday afternoon to preview the game. The Vols are coming off back-to-back road wins at Alabama and Georgia this past week and will look to continue the momentum against the Tigers in the Food City Center.
While speaking with the media, Barnes and Gillespie gave their thoughts on the Vols’ win over Georgia and where Tennessee is working to improve after the game. They also gave their thoughts on the Auburn Tigers ahead of Saturday night’s matchup.
Tennessee is 14-6 on the season with a 4-3 record in conference play. The Vols showed some important growth over the last week with two wins on the road. Prior to the Alabama game, Tennessee was 0-3 in true road games with losses at Syracuse, Arkansas, and Florida. Picking up the road wins over the Crimson Tide and the Bulldogs last week should give the Vols some needed confidence and momentum heading into the next SEC stretch.
