Tennessee football is positioned inside the top 12 for one of the best linebackers in the 2027 class. Roman Igwebuike listed the Vols alongside Miami, USC, Clemson, Indiana, Missouri, Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Florida and Ole Miss, according to Rivals.
Igwebuike is a four-star recruit and the No. 89 player in the class, according to 247. He is considered the No. 6 linebacker and No. 4 player from the state of Illinois. He is from Chicago and plays for Mount Carmel.
Tennessee was one of the first teams in the mix for Igwebuike, as well. He picked up his UT offer on March 13, 2025.

This past season, Igwebuike posted 115 tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss, seven sacks, two interceptions, three forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, three pass breakups and 17 quarterback pressures. He was named an All-Conference member while helping his team reach a 14-0 record and earn the 8A state championship.
Tennessee has recruited linebackers extremely well under William Inge. In this past 2026 class, the Vols signed Brayden Rouse and TJ White, who are both considered among the top players at the position.
So far, Tennessee has landed four commitments in the 2027 class. The Vols boast four-star offensive lineman Princeton Uwaifo as the headliner, with four-star Kadin Fife also in the boat. However, Fife is apparently back in the evaluation process after defensive staff changes.
Three-star quarterback Derrick Baker and legacy linebacker JP Peace are also committed. More commitments are expected to roll in throughout the offseason as the class heats up, though.
