Former Tennessee star Jauan Jennings might be looking for a new home this offseason. After spending his first five seasons with the San Francisco 49ers, Jennings is now a pending free agent. He could return to the Niners and keep his home in The Bay, but Jennings may also seek out some new territory as he continues his NFL career.
New doesn’t always mean unfamiliar, though. One recent prediction has Jennings landing with a team that he became plenty accustomed with during his time with the Niners.
ESPN’s Aaron Schatz recently predicted one big free agent signing for all 32 teams in the league. Schatz went a little bolder with his approach and didn’t include any re-signings with players and their current teams. That means he’s got Jennings on the move and out of San Fran.
Schatz has Jennings signing with the 49ers’ rival and reigning Super Bowl champion, the Seattle Seahawks. Jennings is well familiar with Lumen Field in Seattle, as it has hosted him and the Niners for each of his five seasons in the NFL. It would also be a big splash for a team coming off a trip to the mountaintop this previous season.
“This signing would achieve a couple of goals for the Seahawks. It would give them a receiver to replace Rashid Shaheed if he leaves in free agency. Furthermore, Jennings is a strong run blocker and the Seahawks still want to be a run-first offense,” Schatz writes. “New offensive coordinator Brian Fleury is familiar with Jennings from his time in San Francisco, and adding Jennings would bring the benefit of taking away from an important division rival. Jennings had nine touchdowns last season but was even better in 2024, when he ranked 12th in ESPN’s receiver scores.”

In early February, CBS Sports’ Zachary Pereles predicted where each of the NFL’s Top 50 free agents would land this offseason, whether it be with their current franchise or a different one. Pereles had Jennings, who is tagged as the No. 11 free agent in the class, returning to his home state of Tennessee to play for the Titans. He also listed the Buffalo Bills, the Atlanta Falcons, and a return to the Niners as other possible options.
After tallying just 78 catches in his first three seasons, Jennings broke through in 2024 with the Niners battling injuries to the pass-catching unit. He caught 77 passes for 975 yards and six touchdowns, which were all career highs at the time. Jennings battled a bevy of injuries himself leading into and during the 2025 season, but managed to play through them and caught 55 passes for 643 yards and a new career-high nine touchdowns.
Jennings is also the first non-QB to throw for two passing touchdowns during the NFL postseason since the merger. His first postseason touchdown pass came in the 2024 Super Bowl against the Kansas City Chiefs, and his most recent one came just over a month ago in the 49ers’ NFC Wild Card win over the Philadelphia Eagles.
NFL free agency is right around the corner, kicking off on March 11. Stay tuned to Rocky Top Insider for the latest news around Jauan Jennings’ status and future team.
