Oklahoma basketball is firmly on the bubble for the 2026 NCAA Tournament. The Sooners finish the season 19-15 (7-11 SEC) and are listed as the first team out in Joe Lunardi’s latest ESPN bracketology.
With Oklahoma’s postseason status up in the air, the university has backed its head coach, Porter Moser, for at least one more season. OU Athletic Director Roger Denny told ESPN that Moser will return as the Sooners’ head coach next season.
In the report from Pete Thamlel, he noted that Moser and Denny met on Saturday morning following Oklahoma’s elimination from the SEC Tournament. The conversation included ‘increased resources throughout the program and specifically NIL for players.’
This will mark year six for Moser in Norman next season.

More From RTI: SEC Tournament Betting Odds As Final Four Teams Compete For the Conference Championship
Last season was the first NCAA Tournament berth for Oklahoma under Moser. He led the Sooners to a 9-seed but lost to 8-seed UConn in the opening round.
Moser made it to the second round of the NIT in his first year on the job, and the team did not participate in any postseason events the following two seasons.
Moser was hired at Oklahoma after finding immense success at Loyola Chicago. He steered the Ramblers to a Final Four as an 11-seed in the 2017-18 season, including a win over 3-seed Tennessee in the Round of 32. In his final season at Loyola Chicago, the 2020-21 campaign, he earned a Sweet 16 berth as an 8-seed.
As a player, Moser spent his career at Creighton from 1986-90. He is from Naperville, Illinois.
