It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Both the men’s and women’s basketball NCAA Tournament brackets were revealed on Sunday night, and we can now prepare for March Madness to unfold.

This included finding out the draw for Lady Vols basketball in season two under Kim Caldwell. Tennessee enters the NCAA Tournament as a 10-seed. It will open against 7-seed NC State in the Round of 64. The teams already met this season, with the Wolfpack winning at a neutral site, 80-77.

If the Lady Vols can buck their seven-game losing skid and win in the opening round, they’d get the winner between 2-seed Michigan and 15-seed Holy Cross. These first two rounds would both be played on the home floor of Michigan in Ann Arbor.

If Tennessee can move on to the Sweet 16 for the second-straight season, UT would likely face either 3-seed Louisville, 6-seed Alabama or 11-seed Rhode Island. The Lady Vols lost big to Louisville in Brooklyn, beat Alabama on the road and lost to the Tide in the SEC Tournament already. That game and the ensuing Elite Eight would be played in Fort Worth, Texas.

Following the loss to Alabama in the SEC Tournament second round, Caldwell was asked why she thinks her team deserves a spot in the NCAA Tournament.

“Yeah, I do,” Caldwell said. “I think we’ve played the hardest schedule in the country. I think the majority of that came in February, but we have significant wins, and I think that – we hope to get in and continue to try to be a different team.”

The full schedule and tip-off time will be revealed at a later time. However, Tennessee will open on Friday.
