Tennessee Baseball Moves Up First Pitch Time Against Eastern Kentucky

Tennessee baseball is moving up the first pitch for its midweek matchup against Eastern Kentucky due to expected cold weather in Knoxville on Tuesday. First pitch is now at 4:15 p.m. ET after originally being scheduled for a 6 p.m. ET first pitch.

According to the Weather Channel, the temperature projects to be 38 degrees at the newly scheduled 4 p.m. first pitch. By 8 p.m. temperatures will drop all the way to 33 degrees.

The Vols are looking to get back in the win column in the midweek after dropping the final two games of their SEC opening series at Georgia. Tennessee took the opener in Athens and led by five runs in the series rubber match but was unable to get to the finish line, falling 8-7.

Tennessee now boasts a 14-6 (1-2 SEC) record on the season. The Vols have not list a midweek game this season but have dropped three games to non power five opponents— losing two in their weekend series against Kent State and a lone game in its weekend series against Wright State.

Eastern Kentucky enters the midweek matchup with a a 7-13 (2-1 ASUN) record. The Colonels have played midweek games against both of its instate power five foes, dropping their lone matchup against Louisville while losing two midweek games against Kentucky.

Left-handed pitcher Taylor Tracey is starting for Tennessee against Eastern Kentucky. The freshman has started in each of the last two midweeks. He allowed three hits and one run in three innings pitched last week against Tennessee Tech. Before that, Tracey struck out seven batters in three perfect innings against Oakland.

Tennessee is in the first of a five-game home stand at Lindsey Nelson Stadium. The Vols are facing Missouri in a three-game series this weekend before facing USC Upstate next Tuesday night.

First pitch between Tennessee and Eastern Kentucky is at 4:15 p.m. ET. The SEC Network+ is broadcasting the game.
