After scrimmaging on Thursday, Tennessee football got back to practice during the spring slate. After the practice session, UT’s running back room met with the media, including star returning back DeSean Bishop.
Bishop, who ran for over 1,000 yards this past season, was joined by second-year backs Daune Morris and Justin Baker and Tulane transfer Javin Gordon.
Running backs coach De’Rail Sims also met with the media. He was asked about newcomer Gordon, the young room and Bishop’s return.
After the scrimmage on Thursday, head coach Josh Heupel was optimistic about his stable of running backs for the 2026 season.
“Really good competition inside of that room,” Heupel said. “A lot of guys that have the ability to go out and play at a really high level. The new guys have grasped what we’re doing offensively real quickly. Some of the young guys from a year ago had great winters. Their size, their movement, all that has continued to grow. So really good competition. DeSean has had a great start to it. We limited him in today’s scrimmage a little bit, just not as much live-type of work for him, but he’s had a great start.”
