Former Tennessee wide receiver Jauan Jennings hit the open market when free agency began, but didn’t come to terms with any teams during the first wave of free agent signings. With the NFL Draft now in the rear-view mirror, though, the game is back on. Whether you’re looking at teams that didn’t address the position the way they wanted to in the draft or teams that are just looking for an additional receiver heading into the summer, Jennings’ name is back in circulation with potential landing spots.

According to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Tuesday afternoon, Jennings is on his way to meet with the Minnesota Vikings. Schefter’s report states that the Vikings will host Jennings on Tuesday night and Wednesday.

A potential Jennings addition would make for a pretty stout offense in Minnesota. The Vikings acquired quarterback Kyler Murray during free agency and have talented pass-catching threats such as Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, and TJ Hockenson. Opinions vastly vary on Murray’s ability, but giving any quarterback that sort of arsenal is automatically a strong start.

The Vikings aren’t the only ones that have interest in the 28-year-old receiver, though. According to a report from The Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson on Monday, the Miami Dolphins have also shown interest in the former Volunteer. Jackson’s report does state that Miami “isn’t going to spend big in free agency after June 1,” which could potentially rule them out down the road.

After tallying just 78 catches in his first three seasons, Jennings broke through in 2024 with the Niners battling injuries to the pass-catching unit. He caught 77 passes for 975 yards and six touchdowns, which were all career highs at the time. Jennings battled a bevy of injuries himself leading into and during the 2025 season, but managed to play through them and caught 55 passes for 643 yards and a new career-high nine touchdowns.

Jennings is also the first non-QB to throw for two passing touchdowns during the NFL postseason since the merger. His first postseason touchdown pass came in the 2024 Super Bowl against the Kansas City Chiefs, and his most recent one came just over a month ago in the 49ers’ NFC Wild Card win over the Philadelphia Eagles.

Jennings played at Tennessee from 2015-19. In that time, he became a fan-favorite due to his production and clear passion. As a senior in 2019, despite a rough season with Jeremy Pruitt at the helm, Jennings totalled 969 yards and eight touchdowns through the air, along with a rushing score.
