On Tuesday morning, Tennessee football revealed a list of game designations for the 2026 season. This featured a Checker Neyland game vs. Texas, Salute to Service vs. Kennesaw State, Champions Weekend vs. Auburn and Homecoming vs. Kentucky.

However, some fans noted that there wasn’t a ‘Dark Mode’ game listed among the options. While it’s typical for the ‘Dark Mode’ game, featuring all black uniforms, to be revealed closer to game day to ensure a proper kickoff time, Tennessee Senior Associate Athletic Director of Strategic Communications Bill Martin confirmed it would happen.

This is notable given the switch to adidas uniform from Nike for the upcoming season. This reveals that the new brand deal will still feature a black set of jerseys.

The partnership between UT and adidas begins on July 1, 2026, and runs for 10 years, effectively through the 2035-36 athletic year.

“Our mission is to build the premier athletics department in the country and to lead the way in college sports. Partnering with adidas is an ideal fit, as their mission is to be the best sports brand in the world,” Tennessee Director of Athletics Danny White said in a statement. “There is no denying the resurgence of Tennessee Athletics, powered by the greatest fan base in all of sports. Our strong licensing numbers, impressive television ratings, and sold-out venues all reflect this. adidas recognized our potential and responded with one of the best apparel deals in the history of college sports, prioritizing Vol Nation and the Tennessee brand.”

“This partnership provides us with a significant advantage in the ever-evolving landscape of college sports. We take pride in our fan base and the competitive edge they offer us. We refuse to partner with someone who does not feel the same way.”

In the Josh Heupel Era, Tennessee is 4-2 while wearing ‘Dark Mode’ jerseys. The two losses came to Georgia in 2021 with white helmets and this past year to Oklahoma.
