After a standout season with Tennessee basketball, freshman phenom Nate Ament is headed to the NBA. This week, Ament will participate in the NBA Draft Combine in front of scouts from all 30 NBA teams to show off what he brings to the table at the next level.
To get the stretch started, Ament had a number of tangibles measured. According to Jonathan Givony, Ament clocked in at 6-foot-9.5 barefoot and 211 pounds. He also registered a 6-foot-11.5 wingspan and 9-foot-1.5 standing reach.
Givony noted that Ament has grown, as well. He’s grown an inch and put on 25 pounds over two years. His weight was certainly helped by going through a year of college at Tennessee, which boasts one of the best strength programs in the country.

Ament showed his upside during the course of last season, though he did have to battle through injury heading into the postseason. The wing finished with 16.7 points per game on 39.9% shooting from the field and 33.3% from range. He also contributed 6.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists per contest.
Ament was a five-star recruit out of high school and recruited at the highest level. Ultimately, the Vols won the recruiting battle over Duke, Kentucky, Arkansas and Louisville.
Now, he’s preparing for the NBA draft. The lottery was held this past weekend, cementing the first 14 picks of the draft. In a recent mock draft from Tankathon, the website has Ament headed to Atlanta to join the Hawks at pick No. 8.
