Where Tennessee Projects To Land In SEC Baseball Tournament With Week Remaining

The SEC Baseball Tournament gets underway in one week as all 16 conference teams make their way to the Hoover Met for the 2026 conference tournament.

Where do the Vols project to land in the SEC Tournament with one series remaining in the regular season? With a 13-14 SEC record, Tennessee is tied for 10th place in the SEC. The Vols would be the 11-seed if the tournament started today. However, they’re tied with the same Oklahoma team that they’re playing in a three-game series this weekend in Oklahoma City.

Tennessee is tied with Oklahoma and one-game behind Ole Miss (14-13) in the standings. The Rebels hold the tiebreaker against Tennessee so the Vols passing them in the regular-season standings is unlikely. All three of Mississippi State, Arkansas and Florida are two games ahead of Tennessee in the SEC standings giving the Vols a slim chance to dramatically raise up the conference standings.

With a 12-15 record, Kentucky is one-game behind Tennessee in the SEC standings. The Wildcats defeated Tennessee in a three-game series so would hold the tiebreaker in a two-way tie. Vanderbilt enters the final week of the regular season with an 11-16 record and also holds a potential tiebreaker against Tennessee.

Entering the final week of the regular season, Tennessee could potentially land anywhere between fourth and 13th in the SEC regular-season standings. More realistically, the Vols will likely land between ninth and 12th in the SEC standings.

If Tennessee finds a way to land in the top eight of the SEC standings then they will have a bye in the first round and will not play until Wednesday in Hoover.

Tennessee baseball started 4-8 in SEC play through its first four series before rolling off a 9-6 record with three series wins over the last five conference series. The Vols sit in a solid spot to make the NCAA Tournament but likely need to pick up at least one more conference win to definitively make the NCAA Tournament.

First pitch between Tennessee and Oklahoma is at 7:30 p.m. ET on Thursday night. The SEC Network+ is streaming the game.
