ESPN’s flagship college football pregame show, College GameDay, will be back in action for the 2026 season this fall. The touring program visits different college football sites around the country to preview some of the biggest games each week.
While we don’t know whether College GameDay will be making a stop in Knoxville this fall, we do know that it won’t be during the first two weeks of the season. On one hand, Tennessee hosts Furman and plays at Georgia Tech in the first two weeks. On the other hand, ESPN let the public know its early schedule on Tuesday.
College GameDay will emanate from Baton Rouge, LA, in Week 1 to see Lane Kiffin’s LSU Tigers host Dabo Swinney’s Clemson Tigers. That game will be the first contest of the Kiffin Era at LSU and will be played on Sept. 5 in Tiger Stadium.
The second week of the season will see College GameDay stay at an SEC site, but with a different non-conference matchup. The show will be live from Austin, TX, as the Texas Longhorns host the Ohio State Buckeyes in what could be an early-season Top 5 matchup from the Lone Star State on Sept. 12.

College GameDay returned to Knoxville during the 2025 season for the Tennessee-Georgia game last September. Head coach Josh Heupel made an appearance on the show, while Tennessee basketball legend Candace Parker was the guest picker for the event.
It was the first time that Tennessee had hosted College GameDay since 2022. The ESPN program was on Rocky Top twice that season, visiting for wins over Alabama and Florida in Neyland Stadium. Tennessee was part of the GameDay broadcast three times in 2024, but all three were road games (Oklahoma, Georgia, Ohio State).
A trip to Knoxville this year is entirely dependent on how Tennessee performs and the quality of its opponent. The Vols have five SEC home games this year against Texas, Auburn, Alabama, Kentucky, and LSU. The Vols’ SEC road games include Arkansas, South Carolina, Texas A&M, and Vanderbilt.
Here’s a look at the Vols’ full 2026 schedule:
- Sept. 5 – vs Furman
- Sept. 12 – at Georgia Tech
- Sept. 19 – vs Kennesaw State
- Sept. 26 – vs Texas
- Oct. 3 – vs Auburn
- Oct. 10 – at Arkansas
- Oct. 17 – vs Alabama
- Oct. 24 – at South Carolina
- Oct. 31 – OPEN
- Nov. 7 – vs Kentucky
- Nov. 14 – at Texas A&M
