Five-Star Running Back, Top Tennessee Football Target Reportedly Sets Commitment Date

Tennessee football has long pursued five-star running back David Gabriel Georges as one of its top targets in the 2027 recruiting cycle. Now Gabriel Georges recruitment has a new most important date with the running back reportedly setting his commitment date.

Gabriel Georges plans on announcing his college commitment on July 22, 247sports Tom Loy reported on Tuesday.

The instate running back ranks as a five-star recruit and the No. 10 player in the country according to the 247sports composite rankings. He’s the No. 2 running back and the top player in the state of Tennessee in the 2027 recruiting cycle.

Gabriel Georges is down to a top group that includes Georgia, Ohio State, Ole Miss and Tennessee. He’s scheduled to take official visits to all four schools over the next five weeks. The five-star recruit plans on officially visiting Ohio State the final weekend of May, Tennessee the first weekend of June and then Ole Miss and Georgia the ensuing two weeks.

While Georgia and Ole Miss are also in the hunt, Tennessee and Ohio State are the top two contenders to land the elite running back. Ohio State sent nearly its entire offensive coaching staff to Chattanooga earlier this month to visit Gabriel Georges.

Gabriel Georges is coming off a standout junior season at The Baylor School in Chattanooga where he helped lead the Red Raiders to the state championship. The 6-foot, 205-pound running back turned in a dominant performance in the state title game, rushing for 280 yards and three touchdowns against rival McCallie.

While Gabriel Georges plays his prep football in Chattanooga, he is originally a Quebec, Canada native.

Tennessee football’s 2027 recruiting class currently contains seven commits including four from the Volunteer State. The Vols’ two highest rated commits are Brentwood Academy receiver Keasan Bowman and Siegel offensive tackle Princeton Uwaifo.

Tennessee’s seven-commit recruiting class currently ranks No. 31 nationally and No. 11 in the SEC according to the 247sports team rankings.
