Tennessee softball’s Knoxville Regional is off to a strong start. On Friday, the Lady Vols beat Northern Kentucky 3-1 to avoid an early upset loss in the two-loss elimination event.
Now, UT will meet the winner between Virginia and Indiana on Saturday for the desired spot in the regional finals. That game will begin at 3 p.m. ET.
After beating NKU, Tennessee head coach Karen Weekly, pitcher Erin Nuwer and catcher Elsa Morrison met with the media. They were asked about Nuwer’s dominant showing, Morrison’s crucial home run, dealing with adversity and more.
Nuwer tossed a complete game and earned a win in the stat book. She allowed one hit, no earned runs and struck out seven batters while walking one. Morrison went 2-for-3 at the plate with the solo home run in the sixth inning.
From Northern Kentucky, head coach Morgan Gerak, center fielder Jena Rhoads and pitcher Alicia Flores also met with the media.
