Northwestern State transfer pitcher Brody Trosclair is visiting Tennessee baseball on Sunday, Volquest’s Eric Cain first reported and a source confirmed to RTI.
Trosclair is coming off a strong freshman season where he posted a 5-1 record, 1.89 ERA and 1.13 WHIP on his way to earned Southland Freshman of the Year honors. The left-handed pitcher started four games, made six relief appearances and struck out 55 batters in 38 innings pitched.
Trosclair last pitched on April 2 before suffering an arm injury that cost him the remainder of his freshman season. Said injury is not expected to cost him time during the 2027 season.
Tennessee will have serious competition to land the talented left-handed pitcher. Trosclair has already taken an unofficial visit to LSU and reportedly has official visits scheduled to both LSU and Arkansas. The home state Tigers could be tough to beat for the Thibodaux native.
One interesting moving piece in Tennessee’s pursuit of Trosclair is that the Vols currently do not have a pitching coach after Josh Elander fired Josh Reynolds Thursday after just one season as the Vols’ lead pitching coach.

Whether Tennessee will have a new pitching coach in place by the time Trosclair arrives in Knoxville is uncertain but seems significant.
Tennessee baseball is looking to seriously improve its pitching staff entering next season after a disappointing 2026 campaign. Landon Mack, Cam Appenzeller, Will Haas, Nic Abraham and Chandler Day have all already announced intentions to return next season.
The Vols lose Evan Blanco to graduation and likely lose Tegan Kuhns and Bo Rhudy to the MLB Draft. Brayden Krenzel and Ari Bethea have each entered the transfer portal.
Eleven Tennessee players have entered the transfer portal this offseason, including utility man Jay Abernathy, catcher Cash Williams, infielder Finley Bates, shortstop Ariel Antigua, infielder Ethan Moore, first baseman Evan Hankins, utility man Hunter High, utility man Chris Newstrom, outfielder Hutson Chance and right-handed pitcher Krenzel and right-handed pitcher Bethea.
After failing to make it out of the opening weekend of the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2019, Elander and his coaching staff enter a critical offseason. Tennessee will lose a number of players to the portal and will be aggressive adding more talent to its roster.
