Lady Vols basketball’s ACC-SEC Challenge opponent is set. Tennessee will meet Virginia Tech in Blacksburg on Dec. 3, 2026. This is the second year in a row UT will play on the road in the challenge after playing at Stanford last season.
In that game against the Cardinal a year ago, Tennessee won 65-62. The win came behind a strong game from Talaysia Cooper, who transferred to Ole Miss this offseason. She produced 19 points, six assists, two rebounds and nine steals in the win.
The Lady Vols are 2-1 in the history of the ACC-SEC Challenge, including 2-0 under Kim Caldwell. She also led UT to a win over Florida State at home in her first season.

The matchup with the Hokies means Tennessee will be seeing a pair of former Lady Vols. This offseason, forwards Lauren Hurst and Alyssa Latham both entered the transfer portal and committed to Virginia Tech.
As a freshman, Hurst didn’t crack the rotation for many minutes early, but was a factor down the stretch. She averaged 2.2 points per game on 48.8% shooting from the field and 41.4% on threes. She also averaged 1.6 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game in 24 appearances and one start.
Latham played in 27 games this past season, her second at Tennessee, and started in 16. In that span, the forward averaged 4.7 points per game on 53.9% shooting from the field and 21.1% on threes. She also added 3.4 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game.
Tennessee has two other games with confirmed game dates so far for the 2026-27 season. This features an away game at Coppin State on Nov. 5 and a neutral site bout with Baylor on Dec. 18 in Nashville. The Lady Vols will also play on the road against Belmont and UConn and at home against UCLA and MTSU.
