Tennessee football has been making big splashes on the recruiting trail over the past few weeks and is seemingly in a position to make another. Following his official visit to see the Vols this past weekend, four-star safety Marcus Jones is reportedly trending toward UT.

After the visit, Rivals insider Steve Wiltfong dropped a prediction for Jones’ pending commitment. With a 70% confidence level, he predicted Tennessee to land his commitment. Wiltfong has an impressive accuracy in his predictions, as well. In 1,347 predictions, he has been right at a 92% clip.

Jones ranks as a four-star, according to 247 Composite. He is placed as the No. 263 player in the nation, No. 22 safety and No. 9 player out of Pennsylvania. He is from Haverford, Pennsylvania, where he plays for The Haverford School.

Jones has four official visits set up to take during the summer. Ahead of his trip to Rocky Top, he also got a look at Ole Miss and then North Carolina. Now, he’s scheduled to see Michigan this upcoming weekend. While he doesn’t have a recruitment date set, these official visits typically go a long way in finalizing decisions.

Jones’ primary recruiter at Tennessee is Anthony Poindexter. That’s the Vols’ new co-defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach. Jones has also been in contact with head coach Josh Heupel, defensive coordinator Jim Knowles and more on the staff.

Currently, Tennessee’s 2027 class features 16 commitments after the addition of three-star athlete Dayon Cooper on Monday. Cooper projects as a wide receiver at UT after flipping his commitment from Florida State after his official visit. The class ranks as the No. 36 group in the country on 247.
