Former Tennessee Vols Ja’Kobi Gillespie and Felix Okpara are officially the 12th and 13th Volunteers to be selected in the NBA Draft during the Rick Barnes era on Rocky Top. Gillespie went 42nd overall to the San Antonio Spurs, while Okpara went 46th overall to the Washington Wizards.
Including Nate Ament, who went 13th overall to the Milwaukee Bucks, Tennessee finished the event with three draft selections. It’s the most that Tennessee has had in a single draft since 2019, which saw Grant Williams, Admiral Schofield, and Jordan Bone all enter the league.
Gillespie and Okpara held their own draft celebrations on Wednesday night, but still fielded some media questions after their names were officially called.
