Tennessee pitcher Nic Abraham committed to Virginia Tech baseball on Friday afternoon, he announced on Instagram. Abraham follows his former Tennessee teammate Evan Hankins who committed to the Hokies out of the portal just over two weeks ago.

Abraham originally shared intentions to return to Tennessee for his junior season but changed course and entered the transfer portal after the Vols’ fired pitching coach Josh Reynolds after just one season. Josh Elander hired ECU pitching coach Austin Knight to replace Reynolds.

Abraham posted a 4.15 ERA and 1.12 WHIP in 34.2 innings pitched during his sophomore season. The right-handed pitcher made three midweek starts and threw the bulk of his innings in midweek games. He posted a 7.59 ERA in 10.2 innings pitched in SEC play.

The California native made just five appearances in SEC play with a poor outing against LSU, five earned runs in 0.2 innings pitched, which inflated his conference only stats. Half his SEC innings came against Vanderbilt when he allowed four earned runs in 5.1 innings pitched.
