David Gabriel Georges’ collegiate commitment is going to reportedly come with a massive payday. The elite 2027 prospect is one of the top players in the current recruiting cycle, and he’s garnered significant attention from his three finalists: Tennessee, Ohio State, and Ole Miss.
According to a report from On3’s Pete Nakos on Wednesday, Gabriel Georges “is expected to be the highest-paid running back recruit in history,” and that he is “in line to become the first running back prospect with a $1 million deal.”
The report isn’t all that surprising considering the talent he is and the amount of fight his finalists have had to put up, but it’s still a bit wild to actually see those numbers in official reported text. The report also shows just how coveted the five-star prospect is by his final suitors, who appear ready and willing to make history to land him.
Rivals’ Industry Rankings tag Gabriel Georges as the No. 9 prospect in the class, the No. 2 running back in the cycle, and the top player from the Volunteer State. The Quebec, Canada, native currently plays for Baylor School in Chattanooga, TN.
Gabriel Georges took three official visits during the spring and summer, going to Ohio State, Tennessee, and Ole Miss, in that order. He was originally supposed to end the run with an OV at Georgia, but decided to cancel it. This leaves the Buckeyes, Vols, and Rebels still in play.

While the money is certainly a big factor, Ohio State and Tennessee have both pulled out any and all other external methods to sway the five-star prospect. Tennessee brought in VFL and NFL superstar Alvin Kamara to be Gabriel Georges’ shadow during his OV on Rocky Top, while Ohio State offered DGG’s roommate and Baylor School teammate a scholarship offer just a few weeks ago.
Ohio State’s move to offer his teammate, Jordan Darren Djila Tchuisseu, is a move that was directly made to try to mitigate some of Tennessee’s natural familiarity. With UT being the in-state school, the Vols already have two players on their roster who have been teammates with Gabriel Georges at Baylor: OT Gabriel Osenda and DB Jamyan Theodore.
Gabriel Georges’ reported commitment date is July 22, where he’ll be choosing between the three programs. And while Ole Miss did get the final visit of the three, reports around the recruitment have suggested that Tennessee and Ohio State are the two main competitors. The Vols and Buckeyes have both had their share of momentum throughout the process, but it’s now in a waiting period as DGG and his family sift through their information to make a decision.
Tennessee Football has produced three straight 1,000-yard rushers under head coach Josh Heupel. Jaylen Wright ran for 1,013 yards in 2023, Dylan Sampson broke UT records with 1,491 yards in 2024, and former walk-on running back DeSean Bishop reached 1,076 yards this past season. Bishop returns to the Vols this season and will have a chance to build on his breakout season in 2025.
