Tomorrow, July 22, 2026, five-star running back David Gabriel Georges will announce his commitment. The coveted back is picking between Tennessee football, Ohio State and Ole Miss after visiting each on an official visit this summer.
For a while, the race has seemingly been down to the Vols and Buckeyes. A month ago, it appeared Ohio State may have had the upper hand, as well, with predictions from recruiting insiders coming in for OSU.
That momentum has all flipped leading up to Gabriel Georges’ announcement, though. On Monday, Pete Nakos, a notable On3 insider, logged his prediction for Tennessee to land the five-star back. On Tuesday, three more On3 experts have followed, with Steve Wiltfong, Sam Spiegelman and Chad Simmons all following Nakos’ lead with a UT prediction.
All four predictions have been logged with a 70% confidence level. Nakos and Wiltfong have hit over 90% of their predictions this cycle, while Spiegelman and Simmons are over 85%.

According to 247 Composite, Gabriel Georges is considered the No. 10 player in the class, No. 2 running back and the top player from the state of Tennessee. Though initially from Quebec, he currently lives in Chattanooga, where he plays for Baylor School.
Even after his commitment, this race likely won’t be over, though. As most big-time recruiting battles go, it’s safe to expect the loser of the Gabriel Georges sweepstakes to stay in contact all the way until signing day in attempts to flip him.
Currently, Tennessee holds 17 commitments in the 2027 cycle on 247. This ranks as the No. 38 group in the nation and No. 14 in the SEC. Along with Gabriel Georges, the Vols have been trending to land in-state three-star back Asa Barnes next week, as well, to create a dynamic duo in the backfield.
