After months of hard work on the recruiting trail, Tennessee’s efforts paid off in a big way on Wednesday night as elite five-star running back David Gabriel Georges announced his commitment to the Vols while surrounded by his friends and family in Chattanooga, TN. The 2027 prospect made his verbal pledge to Tennessee over Ohio State and Ole Miss, giving the Vols one of the most highly-touted prospects in the cycle.
This recruitment had been a slugfest, judging by all the reports and conversations leading up to Gabriel Georges’ commitment on Wednesday night. Tennessee and Ohio State were the reported frontrunners in the race, and both programs put together strong packages to entice the five-star prospect to their teams.
There’s been no shortage of conversation and speculation online from all three fan bases, either. This has been one of the most talked-about stories in the 2027 cycle, and fans have been following every twist and turn in the story for several months now. For Ohio State fans, it’s an unfortunate defeat. And for Tennessee fans, it’s a joyful victory.
