On Wednesday, Tennessee football reeled in the commitment of its top priority target in the 2027 recruiting class. Five-star running back David Gabriel Georges picked the Vols over Ohio State and Ole Miss to catapult UT up the rankings.

What exactly is Tennessee getting in Gabriel Georges, though? According to 247 Composite, Gabriel Georges is considered the No. 10 player in the class, No. 2 running back and the top player from the state of Tennessee. Though initially from Quebec, he currently lives in Chattanooga, where he plays for Baylor School.

On the field, Rivals compared him to one of the top young running backs in the NFL, as well. The site listed his comparison to current Browns and former Ohio State and Ole Miss back Quinshon Judkins.

“David Gabriel Georges’ build, vision, and elite tackle-breaking ability remind us of Quinshon Judkins,” Rivals wrote. “Both were instinctive, hyper-physical running backs at the high school level with each being very productive, particularly in big playoff games. Gabriel Georges looks to be faster at the same stage, showing more of a top gear to pull away in the open field, with Judkins adding speed once he got to college.”

Judkins put together a fantastic college career, earning two All-SEC honors and finally an All-Big Ten honor to finish his career with Ohio State. His top accolades were being named the SEC Freshman of the Year and a Freshman All-American in 2022 and ultimately rounding out his career with a national title for the Buckeyes in 2024.

In his first year in the NFL, Judkins produced 827 rushing yards and seven touchdowns on 230 carries across 14 games. He also caught 26 passes for 171 yards. As an early second-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, many think he’s poised for a potential breakout sophomore season with Cleveland.

If Tennessee can capture the same production Judkins gave Ole Miss and Ohio State, they’ll be thrilled with the return on investment from the five-star. With expectations for Gabriel Georges to produce right away, an early breakout like Judkins would also be welcomed.
