Tennessee football’s season opener against Virginia broke a Nissan Stadium football attendance record and had a number of notable names in attendance including former Tennessee point guard Kennedy Chandler and running back Alvin Kamara.

But it also had two other notable athletes in attendance: prep quarterbacks George MacIntyre and Deuce Knight. The Tennessean’s Tom Kreager reported that MacIntyre was in attendance while Knight shared a video of the game on Twitter.

MacIntyre (Brentwood Academy) and Knight (Lipscomb Academy) are both Nashville area quarterbacks who rank as two of the best prep quarterbacks in the 2024 recruiting cycle.

MacIntyre is the grandson of former Vanderbilt coach George MacIntyre and the nephew of current FIU and former Colorado head coach Mike MacIntyre. Starring as a junior at Brentwood Academy, MacIntyre ranks as a five-star recruit in the 2025 recruiting cycle. The 6-foot-5, 182-pound signal caller is the No. 13 player and No. 2 quarterback in his recruiting cycle according to the 247sports composite rankings.

Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel was at MacIntyre’s game Friday night as Brentwood Academy defeated Christian Brothers 37-7.

While MacIntyre is a middle Tennessee native, Knight is a Mississippi native who transferred to Lipscomb this summer ahead of his junior season.

Knight ranks as a four-star recruit and the No. 70 player and No. 5 quarterback in the country according to the 247sports composite rankings. After losing to out of state foes the first two weeks of the season, Lipscomb defeated Briarcrest Christian 42-20 for its first win of the season Friday night.

At Lipscomb, Knight is teammates with Tennessee football commits Kaleb Beasley and Edwin Spillman.

Both Knight and MacIntyre have been frequent visitors on Tennessee’s campus since Heupel took over as head coach.
