Tennessee football is set to host a pair of transfer receivers on visits in upcoming days as Josh Heupel and his staff look to shore up the Vols’ receiver room in the spring portal window.
BYU transfer Keelan Marion will visit Tennessee this weekend according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett. It’s the fourth visit of the week for the redshirt senior receiver after he previously visited Arizona State, SMU and Miami this week.
Marion spent the first two years of his college career at UConn and the next two years at BYU. The Atlanta native caught 24 passes for 346 yards and a touchdown last season. Marion’s versatility is his greatest strength. He totaled 96 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns last season while also returning a pair of kicks for a touchdown.
McNeese receiver Jer’Michael Carter plans on visiting Tennessee early next week according to 247sports’ Chris Hummer. Carter is also in the process of taking visits to Baylor, Oklahoma, Utah and Vanderbilt.

A 6-foot-4, 192-pound receiver, Carter caught 37 passes for 537 yards and three touchdowns in his sophomore season at McNeese. He still has two years of eligibility remaining.
Tennessee is in need of receivers after a mass exodus of pass catchers to the NFL Draft and transfer portal back in December. The Vols need for receivers was evident back in December but they did little to address it at the time, only bringing in Alabama redshirt freshman Amari Jefferson.
Tennessee has just seven scholarship receivers on its roster. Chris Brazzell is the only veteran receiver while Mike Matthews, Braylon Staley, Jefferson, Radarious Jackson, Travis Smith Jr and Joakim Dodson. Sophomore defensive back Boo Carter plans on playing both ways for the Vols this season.
The Vols biggest need is perimeter receivers but they could also use to add a slot receiver to bolster the room alongside Staley, Carter and Jefferson.
