Tennessee baseball suffered a 10-0, seven-inning run-rule loss to Vanderbilt Saturday in Hoover, Alabama in the SEC Tournament Semifinals.

Vanderbilt tallied 13 hits, but no extra-base hits, en route to a blowout win while the Tennessee offense struggled mightily.

RTI’s Jack Foster and Ryan Schumpert met up to break it all down after the game.

The guys discussed Tegan Kuhns’ poor outing, what went differently for the Vols after their pair of wins earlier in the week, how the postseason outlook changes after this loss, whether or not they think Tennessee will host an NCAA Regional and more.

Watch the entire post-game recap below.

Tennessee awaits its Regional hosting fate on Monday’s selection show. The Vols are currently 11th in RPI and have a good amount of Quad 1 wins to bolster their resume.

While the two wins in Hoover significantly enhanced Tennessee’s hosting case, the Vols’ five straight series losses to end the regular season may come back to prevent UT from playing in Knoxville next weekend.

Still, it feels like Tennessee has a greater than 50 percent chance to host an NCAA Regional.

Tony Vitello made the case for Tennessee to host after the Vanderbilt loss. Read what Vitello had to say HERE.

  1. I have watched evey game this year
Tony’s magic wand is broken. Now it is time to play fundamental baseball. There needs to be a attitude adjustment..there is no room for arrogance l Iike recent teams of the past. The strikes outs are too dramatic..especially without swinging..hell bunt..make some type of contact..just look at the foul balls befor the strike outs..the errors are unacceptable..maybe thinking before acting is a good idea..and the pitching is horrible..walking batters that steal 100 bases. UT losses mainly by beating themselves..at this point they have no chance to repeat..they lost who they were trying to be 6 weeks ago..I blame Tony for over 50% of the losses.

  2. Look at yesterday’s game, first inning, two men on base, no outs! First three battters look at good strikes, all placing themselves in pitchers advantage and all strike out! Tony you need to tell these players to get smart about pitchers counts and batters counts!! Nothing wrong with first pitch strikes, teams know that most of your guys won’t swing at first pitch, so they lay them over the plate leaving the batter with only two swings!!! They are not leaving themselves 3 swings and in far too many cases leaving them only one swing at the pitchers advantage!! It’s killing your offensive game recently…….They need to look at baseball like Yogi Berra did, pitchers pitch the ball and batters hit the ball, think, think, think. Sometimes we make things more complicated when it needs not to be!!
