More From RTI: Why This Is A Significant Recruiting Week For Tennessee Football
Reported Savion Hiter Intel
On3 Sports’ Steve Wiltfong believes that Michigan’s longtime communication with Hiter has the Wolverines in the lead.
“I’d lean Michigan going into the announcement,” Wiltfong wrote for On3 Sports on Thursday. “At the Under Armour All-America Game in Orlando, Hiter said Michigan was setting the pace. I’m not sure they’ve ever left the top of the list.”
That being said, Tennessee has emerged into a strong position since it ramped up its recruitment for Hiter at the end of last fall. Wiltfong’s communication with Hiter shows that the five-star running back has kept a close eye on Tennessee’s running backs and believes that he can see himself working in Josh Heupel’s offense.
Tennessee has produced two running back NFL draft picks in the last two years with Jaylen Wright (Miami Dolphins) and Dylan Sampson (Cleveland Browns). Sampson, who set multiple all-time Tennessee records during his final season at UT, was named the SEC Offensive Player of the Year in 2024.
Five-Star RB Savion Hiter
Hiter is the No. 1 rated running back in the class for a reason. He checks all the boxes of being an impact player at the highest levels of college football, possessing an array of tools in his skill set. The 5-foot-11.5, 200-pound prospect is also gifted at track and field, with strong showings in the 100-meter and the triple jump.
“An extremely fluid and smooth mover who changes directions effortlessly,” On3’s Charles Power wrote in a scouting summary. “Shows excellent acceleration. Cuts on a dime and makes defenders miss in space. Runs with pace and instincts. A strong tackle-breaker who runs through contact due to a strong leg drive. A phenomenal high school football player who also makes big plays on defense. Has the potential and upside to be one of the best running back prospects in several cycles.”
