With the 2026 recruiting cycle winding down, Tennessee is already making a big push into the class of 2027 field. One of the players that Tennessee appears to be targeting is cornerback Aamaury Fountain out of Northside High School in Columbus, GA.
Fountain doesn’t have any official star or class rankings yet, but he’s been noted as one of the fastest rising players in the 2027 cycle as the class nears the official spotlight.
According to a report from Sports Illustrated’s Najeh Wilkins, Tennessee is one of the two programs that Fountain is receiving “major love” from. Fountain told Wilkins that while he’s still in the process of figuring out the best path for him, Tennessee and Georgia Tech have been showing him “unreal” love.
This appears to be a prospect that Tennessee believes in and is making a push for.

Tennessee has seen success recruiting the Peach State in recent years, with notable 2025 signees such as WR Travis Smith Jr., CB Ty Redmond, LB Christian Gass, LB Jadon Perlotte, and LB Jaedon Harmon. Josh Heupel also has some big-time 2026 commitments from the state of Georgia with four-star linebacker Brayden Rouse, three-star safety Jowell Combay, and three-star defensive lineman Darryl Rivers.
Redmond has been thrust into a starting position in his true freshman season with ongoing injuries to starters Jermod McCoy and Rickey Gibson. And while he’s been picked on from time to time, the freshman has emerged as a solid young player who continues to get better through the season. He got his first major look at the field during Tennessee’s season-opening win over Syracuse and has been in the starting lineup ever since.
Travis Smith Jr. is also a player who has seen a decent bit of play time as a true freshman. While Tennessee is clearly content with its starting trio of Chris Brazzell, Mike Matthews, and Braylon Staley, Smith has often been the first one off the bench if someone needs a quick break. So far this season, Smith has three catches for 29 yards in four games.
Aamaury Fountain is still developing at the cornerback position after switching over from quarterback, according to Wilkins’ report. But Tennessee has seemingly kept a close eye on his transition and appears to believe in the young 2027 prospect.
Tennessee currently has the No. 8-ranked 2026 recruiting class according to 247Sports’ Composite Rankings. The Vols have six defensive back commits, including four-star CB Zay Anderson, three-star S Jowell Combay, three-star S KJ McClain, three-star S Luke Thompson, three-star CB Javonte Smith, and three-star CB Jamyan Theodore.
