Tennessee football’s offense put together possibly its best game of the season on the road at Kentucky this past Saturday. The Vols went for 504 yards of offense with strong attacks on both the ground and through the air. The result was a 56-34 win in Lexington.

On Monday, Tennessee offensive tackle Lance Heard received an honor for his part in getting the offense rolling. The left tackle was named SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week, sharing the award with Ole Miss’ Diego Pounds.

Heard played all 61 snaps in the game at left tackle. He did not give up a sack or pressure in the game and was never penalized. According to PFF, he earned a grade of 65.8 on the game. This was with an 81.8 pass blocking and 58.3 run blocking mark, as well.

Heard is a junior standing at 6-foot-6, 330 pounds. He is in his second year at Tennessee after starting at left tackle a year ago, as well. However, his first season with UT saw him battle injury throughout the season. This year, now healthy, he’s putting together a strong year that could land him on NFL draft radars.

Heard spent his freshman season at LSU. He played in 12 games and made one start. He entered the transfer portal with both tackles returning from that Tigers team for the following season.

The offensive lineman from Bonita, Louisiana, was a five-star recruit out of high school. On3 considered him the No. 2 tackle in the class, while Rivals, 247 and ESPN had him at No. 3. Every site agreed he was of five-star status, though.
