Tennessee’s 2026 recruiting class is now down to 23 total commitments as of Legend Bey’s de-commitment from the Vols’ program on Monday afternoon. This is the second de-commitment that Tennessee has had in the last two weeks, but the Vols also gained an international commit that was flipped from Cal.

On Oct. 29, Tennessee lost a commitment from three-star linebacker Braylon Outlaw. The Vols are still in a solid spot at the position, though, with commitments from linebackers TJ White and Brayden Rouse. Tennessee then picked up a commitment from three-star tight end Luca Wolf on Nov. 2, a Cal flip from the NFL Academy in London, England. The Vols’ two-week stretch of recruiting movement continued with four-star athlete Legend Bey flipping to Ohio State on Monday.

Bey committed to Tennessee during the Vols’ red-hot run over the summer back on June 28. Just over a week after his summer commitment, Bey posted a picture of himself and Dallas Cowboys quarterback Joe Milton III during a summer workout in Texas.

Despite the movement, Tennessee’s recruiting class still remains in the Top 10 in the immediate aftermath of the de-commitment, according to both major recruiting platforms.

Josh Heupel’s 2026 class lands at No. 8 overall and No. 4 in the SEC in 247Sports’ team rankings, while also coming in at No. 9 overall and No. 5 in the SEC in Rivals’ team rankings. 247 has Tennessee with two five-stars, 12 four-stars, and nine three-stars, while Rivals has the Vols with two five-stars, 11 four-stars, and 10 three-star commits.

Tennessee’s class still packs a punch. With signing day closing in, Tennessee’s class is led by some heavy hitters, including five-star quarterback Faizon Brandon, five-star wide receiver Tristen Keys, five/four-star offensive tackle Gabriel Osenda, four-star athlete Salesi Moa, and four-star athlete Joel Wyatt.

If Tennessee can hang on to its Top 10 position in the final stretch of the recruiting cycle, it’ll be the highest-graded class that Josh Heupel has assembled on Rocky Top. Tennessee finished No. 11 in 2025, No. 13 in 2024, No. 11 in 2023, and No. 23 in 2022. The Vols have been dancing right on the edge of the Top 10, but it looks like the 2026 cycle could be the first that Tennessee finally breaks through.

This is flip-season, though. You never know which programs are going to be able to sway commitments with last-minute pitches, and which programs will be able to keep their guys locked down. The winter period is always an interesting time to see who goes where and who stays put with signing day closing in.
