It’s been an extremely successful day for Tennessee football on the recruiting trail. On the opening day of the early signing period, the Vols have pulled off multiple flips, earned commitments and not lost any commits to this point.
However, one of UT’s top flip targets is leaving his original school, but still not picking Tennessee. Amari Latimer announced he will be flipping from Wisconsin to West Virginia on Wednesday evening.
Latimer is a four-star prospect and ranks as the No. 265 player in the country, according to 247 composite. He is the No. 19 running back and No. 35 player out of the state of Georgia, as well. He is from Tyrone, Georgia, and plays for Sandy Creek High School.
While Latimer has the ability to get to a high speed, he’s described as ‘stocky’ and ‘heavy behind the pads’ by 247’s Andrew Ivins. He is listed on the site as 5-foot-11, 230 pounds.

This does mean that unless a surprise commitment appears, Tennessee will not sign a running back in the 2026 class.
The Vols were also heavily involved in the recruitment of No. 1 back Savion Hiter, but he committed to Michigan. However, he is yet to sign as of 5:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday night. There hasn’t been much buzz about him backing off his pledge to the Wolverines, though.
Tennessee has signed 26 players to this point, with recent four-star edge commit Jordan Carter also expected to sign soon. There is still one verbal commitment holdout in Salesi Moa, though. The four-star athlete is being targeted by Utah and Michigan, pushing his signing back past Wednesday.
