If you look at 247‘s recruiting rankings, Tennessee football holds the commitments of a trio of five-star prospects. No. 1 recruit quarterback Faizon Brandon, top-ranked wide receiver and No. 4 recruit Tristen Keys and No. 19 recruit and highly-touted offensive lineman Gabriel Osenda are all in the boat.

However, if you go to the other recruiting service, Rivals, none of these players hold five-star status, even after a recent rankings refresh.

The top-ranked of the trio is Brandon at No. 34 in the country. He is the No. 4 quarterback and No. 4 player out of North Carolina in the class, as well. He plays for Grimsley High School in Greensboro, North Carolina, and is one of the longest-tenured commits in the class.

Then, it’s Keys. The receiver is considered the No. 39 recruit in the country on Rivals. This makes him the No. 7 wide receiver and No. 3 player out of Mississippi. He plays for Hattiesburg High School in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

The next highest-rated commit for Tennessee isn’t Osenda, either. Instead, it’s athlete Salesi Moa who clocks in at No. 70 in the nation. The potential two-way player is the No. 2 athlete and top player out of Utah.

Then, it’s two more pieces inside the top 100. Linebacker TJ White is at No. 72 and is the No. 5 backer and No. 5 player out of Mississippi. Local slot receiver Tyreek King is at No. 86 and is the No. 12 receiver and No. 2 player from Tennessee.

After that, it’s still a number of recruits before you get to Osenda. This includes athlete Joel Wyatt, offensive lineman Kamari Blair, linebacker Brayden Rouse, edge rusher Hezekiah Harris and cornerback Zaydyn Anderson.

Osenda clocks in at No. 183 in the nation as a four-star prospect. He is the No. 19 offensive tackle and No. 9 player out of Tennessee. He plays for Baylor School in Chattanooga.

On Rivals, Tennessee holds the No. 9 class in the country. If you go to 247, it’s the No. 4-ranked group in the nation.

  1. We all know how it goes. If they had committed to Alabama or Georgia, they would be ranked 1, 2, and 3 in the country. It’s all about who they commit to, not how good they are. It’s the same story every year. They did it to George MacIntyre last year and Nico before that.
