After a light out-of-conference slate to begin the 2025-26 season, Tennessee basketball’s schedule is heating up in a hurry. The Vols head to Las Vegas this week to play Rutgers, then Houston and a third contest against a team to be decided later.
Before the trip to play in the Players Era Festival, Tennessee head coach Rick Barnes and freshman phenom Nate Ament met with the media.
“We know it’s going to be a different level of competition, obviously,” Barnes said. “But we’ve seen a lot of growth in some areas, not just as a team, but individually. But we still have a ways to go like most teams do in November, December. But yeah, we feel good about where we are.”
Tennessee sits at 5-0 heading into the tournament, but is yet to play a team to the level of Rutgers or Houston, although the Scarlet Knights were recently upset by Central Connecticut.
