It was a day of milestones for Lady Vols basketball in its 88-35 win over Coppin State on Sunday afternoon. Not only did it mark the 1,500th win in program history, the most in all of NCAA Women’s Basketball, but guard Nya Robertson set the program record with 10 threes made in a single game.
Afterward, Tennessee head coach Kim Caldwell, Robertson and Zee Spearman all met with the media to give their thoughts on how the game played out.
“When I was walking into the locker room, Janiah said Coach, you’re etched in history, you’re etched in Tennessee history,” Caldwell said about earning the program’s 1,500th win. “I said so are you. We had a moment and said it’s a really big deal. It is a really big deal. Did we do the majority of the work? Absolutely not. Is it cool to be part of such a massive number that’s hard to get your head around? It’s a blessing.”
