Tennessee Basketball earned a true statement win on Tuesday night in Las Vegas with a 76-73 victory over No. 3 Houston. The Vols got revenge after the Cougars knocked the Vols out of the NCAA Tournament in the Elite Eight last spring in Indianapolis.
This was a true marquee win for Rick Barnes’ squad. Led by expected performances from Felix Okpara and Ja’Kobi Gillespie, combined with a breakthrough showing from Bishop Boswell, Tennessee was able to erase an 11-point first-half deficit to take control of things in the second half.
Tennessee put the clamps on in the second half and held Houston to just 34 points. It was a strong showing from the Vols that could catapult Tennessee into a big run before non-conference play.
After the game, Tennessee head coach Rick Barnes met with the media to discuss his reaction to the game. The Vols also had Bishop Boswell, Ja’Kobi Gillespie, Felix Okpara, and Jaylen Carey speak in Las Vegas.
