With just a day until Tennessee football meets Vanderbilt in Knoxville, the Vols have released their list of team captains for the game inside Neyland Stadium. UT does captains on a game-by-game basis, but often a lot of the picks repeat throughout the season.
This time, it’s three repeats and one first time captain. Getting his first nod is Jesse Perry. He’s started every single game on the offensive line this season at both right tackle and right guard. He began at tackle, but when David Sanders returned from injury, he slid inside and continued to dominate. He’s getting the honor as just a redshirt freshman.
For just the second time this season, sixth-year defensive tackle Bryson Eason is a captain. He’s been a consistent starter on the interior and was a representative at SEC Media Days in Atlanta before the season began.
On the special teams side of things, it’ll be William Wright for the third time. While he primarily is on the field for special teams, he also gets occasional run as the backup cornerback with both Jermod McCoy and Rickey Gibson injured.
For the fourth time this year and the second game in a row, Dominic Bailey is also a captain. He’s played both defensive end and tackle, but has primarily been an edge rusher in his sixth season of college ball.
