No. 19 Tennessee finished the regular season with an 8-4 overall record after getting gashed by Vanderbilt, 45-24, on Saturday night in Neyland Stadium. The Vols and Commodores traded a few punches in the first quarter, but Vanderbilt opened things up and caused a landslide for Tennessee in the second half. Ultimately, Tennessee was outscored 31-3 to close out the game after being up 21-14 in the second quarter.

Tennessee couldn’t get much going on the ground in the second half, but Vanderbilt’s run game flourished. The Commodores ended up scoring on all of their second-half drives with four touchdowns and one field goal. Tennessee, meanwhile, was boom or bust. On the drives that Tennessee failed to score, the offense could hardly get a second first down before punting it away.

It was a rough finale for the Vols, but Tennessee still has another chance to find a season-closing win in whatever bowl game it gets selected to in the coming weeks.
