Tennessee football’s recruitment of Legend Bey has been more dramatic than any other in the 2026 cycle. The four-star athlete committed to Tennessee back in July before flipping to Ohio State in November. But Tennessee pulled off a signing day upset, flipping Bey back from Ohio State.
But despite Bey signing with Tennessee on Wednesday, the saga around his recruitment doesn’t seem over. Bey posted, and then deleted, a tweet about a disagreement between him and his family about where he would attend school.
“Good Afternoon, I was just recently logged out of my IG and probably will be logged out of this Account as well by my older brother who has access to my account because, I wont’ sign to the school him and my mother wants,” Bey posted before deleting.
There are confusing aspects of the post. Most prominently is that Bey already signed with Tennessee. But the more prominent point is that it seems like Bey would rather attend Ohio State then Tennessee.

This matches up reported from BuckNuts on Wednesday that Bey wanted to sign with Ohio State but since he is 17-years old, needed his mom to also sign. But Bey’s mom, and apparently brother, want the blue-chip athlete to play his college football at Tennessee.
What’s next is uncertain. Bey can attend Ohio State without approval from his family. He can ask Tennessee for a release and then sign with Ohio State after he turns 18-years old on Christmas Eve. Even if he doesn’t get out of his release, Bey could enter the transfer portal after it officially opens on Jan. 2.
Bey ranks as a four-star recruit and the No. 175 player in the country according to the 247sports composite rankings. A high school quarterback, it’s uncertain whether Bey will play running back or receiver if he ends up at Tennessee.
The Forney, Texas native was one of 28 players to sign with Tennessee on Wednesday. Tennessee’s 2026 recruiting class currently ranks No. 7 nationally and No. 3 in the SEC according to the 247sports rankings. The Vols class will remain in the same spot even if Bey ends up at Ohio State.
