No. 13 Tennessee dropped its third straight game on Saturday night in Nashville with a 75-62 loss to No. 14 Illinois in Music City Madness. The Vols went into halftime with a two-point lead and hung around for the first part of the second half, but things slid away late for Rick Barnes’ group as the Fighting Illini went on a 27-13 run in the final 11 minutes to secure the victory.

Tennessee guard Ja’Kobi Gillespie led the Vols with 15 points did so with an inefficient 6-of-20 shooting. UT freshman Nate Ament wasn’t very efficient either, putting up nine points on 4-of-14 shooting in the game. Tennessee’s Bishop Boswell and Jaylen Carey both had a team-high seven rebounds in the game, while Gillespie led the team in assists with five.

After the game, Tennessee head coach Rick Barnes and guard Bishop Boswell took questions from the media on the main stage. Tennessee also had Amaree Abram speak to the media in a solo setting.
