On early signing day, Tennessee football pulled off the flip of four-star athlete Legend Bey. The high school quarterback, who is expected to play wide receiver in college, was initially a Vols verbal commit before flipping to Ohio State. However, in the final moments, he signed with the Vols instead.
It didn’t take long for reports to come out that this wasn’t Bey’s decision, though. BuckNuts, 247’s Ohio State site, reported that Bey wanted to sign with the Buckeyes but was met with resistance from his mother, who wanted him at Tennessee. Since he was only 17 years old at the time of the signing, he needed his mother to sign off on that.
Bey does not turn 18 until Christmas Eve, but he has apparently ironed things out with his family. According to a report from VolQuest, Tennessee has released him from his letter of intent. While it isn’t official that he will now sign with the Buckeyes, that is fully the expectation.

Bey is a four-star recruit who ranks as the No. 149 player in the country on 247. He is the No. 7 athlete in the class and No. 21 player out of the state of Texas. He played for North Forney in Forney, Texas.
“Legend on the video, he is dynamic,” Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel said after he initially signed with the Vols. “Special playmaker, ball in his hands. Got a chance to watch him live and in person too. And he is such a unique tool. His skill set, having played quarterback, the command, the presence that he has back there. Throws the ball really extremely well in person. As a playmaker, man, the ability to be involved out in space, perimeter screen, the ability to go up and high point balls, he’s extremely loose. He’s a guy that can be used in the return game as well. So just a dynamic tool that we have an opportunity to add to the offensive arsenal.”
Tennessee’s class now settles in with 27 signings in the 2026 cycle. This is good for the No. 5 class in the country, according to 247’s rankings. The group was at No. 4 when Bey was committed.
